As Sigmund Freud has suggested, the struggle of the self against the external world plays a crucial role in shaping our psychological makeup. In this context, the presence of boundaries can be seen as a constant source of conflict, as we humans are naturally inclined to transcend any obstacle that comes our way.

From a behavioral psychology perspective, the existence of boundaries can lead to various forms of aggression and violence. When an individual feels that their boundaries are being threatened, they may respond with anger, hostility, or even physical violence. This can be seen in many different contexts, from domestic violence to international conflicts.
